Raising Funds with Vegas Flair

Junior Achievement will host its 3rd Annual Casino Night to raise funds for financial education
February 24, 2009 (Bismarck, ND) - Junior Achievement (JA) has a card up its sleeve that it hopes will help the non-profit generate funds to support its mission to educate local youth about business. Casino Night 2009 will be held May 29 at Apple Creek Country Club in Bismarck.
"Casino Night has become a perennial favorite for supporters of JA," said Sally Paulson, JA program director. "We work hard to recreate the Vegas ambiance so the evening becomes an entertaining escape."
Poker and blackjack tables along with roulette wheels staffed by professional dealers from Dakota Gaming certainly shine Vegas style. The only thing that separates the Casino Night from Caesars Palace is the faux money. Attendees each get $75,000 in funny money to gamble with. "You'd never guess that we're using funny money. Many of the players react as if it's real, getting ecstatic when they hit a jackpot or bummed out when they go bankrupt."
All money raised during Casino Night will benefit JA - a program designed to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. During the 2007-2008 school year, JA's programming was lead by 100 volunteers who reached more than 3,000 students in 121 classrooms at 24 schools throughout Bismarck-Mandan.
Casino Night is open to anyone age 21 and older. Two ticket levels are available. A $25 ticket grants entrance to the event, $75,000 in funny money and access to an impressive spread of appetizers. The $50 ticket includes the benefits of the $25 ticket plus an entry into the grand prize drawing for a big-screen plasma television or a trip.
Tickets may be purchased at the Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce located at 1640 Burnt Boat Dr. in Bismarck, by calling 223-5660 or e-mailing spaulson@bismarckmandan.com.
Junior Achievement relies on donations of time and financial resources from businesses, individuals, grants and special event fundraisers like Casino Night.
